& PILOT STATIONS
Interport
Pilots Agency, Inc.
offers a full range of pilot services for Long Island and Block
Island Sound, the Port of New York and New Jersey, Delaware Bay and River, and the
C&D Canal to Baltimore. Interport's pilots hold federal (US
Coast Guard) license
for all service areas. Our pilots also hold New Jersey
State Docking Pilot Licenses for docking and shifting in the
Port of New York and New Jersey, and Connecticut State license for Long Island
Sound and all Sound ports. Our staff maintains and operates Interport's
four pilot boats that serve New York harbor and Long Island Sound.
Dispatcher/phone service operates 24 hours a day. A 36 hour advance
notice of arrival is suggested with a 12 and 6 hour update in
order to coordinate dispatching of pilots.
Long
Island Sound
Pilotage for
U.S. coastwise, U.S. registered, and any foreign vessel is available
for arrivals/departures to/from sea for all Long Island Sound
ports. Shifting between harbors and docking services for all berths
in all Sound harbors are also available.
New
York Harbor
Pilotage for
U.S. coastwise vessels is available for arrivals/departures to/from
sea to New York and New Jersey berths in the Port of New York
and New Jersey. Shifting
within the harbor and docking services for all berths are available
for all U.S. and foreign vessels.
Delaware
Bay and River and C&D Canal
Pilotage for
U.S. coastwise vessels for arrivals/departures to/from sea, and
shifting, including C&D canal to Baltimore, is available for all
ports. Docking services for U.S. and foreign vessels is also available
for all ports.
Port
to Port
When pilot
availability permits, our pilots will remain on board during passages
between Long Island Sound, New York Harbor, and Delaware Bay and
River. This service offers our customers further savings in time
and expense.

Island Sound
Interport's
pilot boat CONNECTICUT PILOT (cell phone 860-823-9273) monitors
VHF channels 16 & 13 three hours before vessel's ETA. Our working
channel in Long Island Sound is VHF channel 11. Vessels bound
to Long Island Sound from sea are boarded at our Montauk Pt. or
Pt. Judith pilot stations. The pilot ladder should be rigged 5
feet from the water.

Interport's
pilots board vessels using our pilot boats INTERPORT PILOT or KEN
JOHNSON. Interport (office call sign WXS 315) monitors
VHF channels 16 & 65A two hours before a vessel's ETA. Our vessels
can also be reached by cell phone at (908) 208-6952. Inbound vessels
are boarded 1.5 miles southwest of Ambrose Tower. Pilot ladder
should be rigged 5 feet from the water.

Interport
uses Delaware Bay Launch Service, Inc. for boarding pilots in
Delaware Bay. Delaware Bay Launch operates four launches from
48' to 78' long for all of our customers needs in Big Stone Anchorage
and for boarding/disembarking pilots on ships bound to/from sea.

Interport Pilots can be contacted on VHF channels 13, 14, or 16
two hours before vessel's ETA, or through Delaware Bay Launch
at (302) 422-7604. The pilot boarding area is between buoy #6
and the "CH" buoy at the entrance to Delaware Bay. Pilot Ladder
should be rigged 6 feet from the water.
